Sariska isn't only wildlife.

A Mughal-era fort inside the reserve boundary, a temple that draws its own pilgrims independent of wildlife tourism, and a working Rajasthani town and its surrounding villages just outside it. This side of Sariska is easy to skip if you only book a safari — we build it in deliberately.

What's Here

Heritage sites in and around the reserve.

Kankwari Fort

A hill fort inside Sariska's core, reportedly used by Emperor Aurangzeb to imprison his brother Dara Shikoh in the 17th century. Access is inside the reserve, so a visit is generally combined with a safari drive.

Pandupol Hanuman Temple

An active pilgrimage site inside the reserve, associated with the Pandavas of the Mahabharata in local tradition. Draws its own visitors independent of wildlife tourism, particularly on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Alwar Town

City Palace (Vinay Vilas Mahal), the Moosi Maharani Chhatri, and a market town rhythm that hasn't been rebuilt around tourism the way Jaipur has.

Village Life in the Buffer Zone

Rural communities live alongside the reserve's buffer zone, with their own traditions and traditional Rajasthani food. Ajay encourages visitors to understand the region's heritage, respectfully and on the community's terms. Village visits are not currently offered as an organised programme.
