Wildlife photography at Sariska.

A standard tourist safari is built for viewing, not necessarily for photography — fixed timing, shared vehicles, limited say over positioning. For photographers, we plan differently: fewer compromises on timing and vehicle positioning, within what the reserve's rules and permit structure actually allow.

Our Approach

What we can actually influence, and what we can't.

Timing around light

Booking the safari shift and, where possible, the zone that gives the best light for the season, rather than defaulting to whichever slot is easiest to book.

Positioning within the rules

Drivers and guides who understand photographer needs — patience at a sighting, sensible vehicle angling — within Forest Department conduct rules that apply to every vehicle in the reserve.

What we won't do

We won't ask a driver to break distance rules, leave a designated track, or pursue an animal for a better angle. Ethical practice isn't negotiable, including when a client asks for it.

Jeep or canter

A jeep generally allows more flexibility over pace and positioning than a larger canter, which can matter if photography is your priority. Ajay arranges private jeep (gypsy) and private canter bookings; availability and costs are confirmed at enquiry, and a particular vehicle, route or zone can't be guaranteed.

Equipment guidance

A telephoto in the 300–600mm range covers most Sariska wildlife photography; a wider lens is worth carrying for landscape and habitat shots, which is where the "beyond the safari" side of Sariska tends to produce the more distinctive images. Bring more memory and battery capacity than you think you'll need — dusty conditions and long days both add up. Photography equipment is not available to rent through us, so please bring your own.
